The Runaways were not popular in The United States. However, the band's popularity increased abroad, particularly in Japan. Following the split of the group in 1979, Ford started a lucrative solo career in heavy metal. She started taking voice classes before releasing her first album 'Dancin' on the Edge'. Ford went off the scene for a few years after both albums failed to gain much popularity. In 1988, she returned to the limelight with her smash album "Lita". It became a huge success for the single "Kiss Me Deadly," along with the ballad 'Close My Eyes Forever. However, the popularity in her professional career was short, and for many years she was absent from the entertainment industry. Her 'Black" album debuted in 1995 and her 'Wicked Wonderland" released almost fifteen years later. The year was 2016, and her latest album, 'Time Capsule,' was made available. Guitar Player Magazine has awarded her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
